Catch up!

Since Monroe arrived a lot earlier than expected we missed a few days of updates and pictures. And we have quite a few (hundred) pictures. Here are some of the highlights of the past few days, then hopefully we'll be up to date and can post most days with updates.

Aunt Lori made a last minute decision to fly home on Friday the 9th. At that point we had no idea she would be home for your birthday, but we're all glad she could make it.

And great aunt Mary Beth was here too! Monroe can definitely already feel the love from everyone and we're all so lucky to have such a great family.

Here is Monroe 1 day old. The nurses are fabulous and take pictures when they can, including this one of the rare photos without her hat on that holds on her CPAP. Proof she has hair! And we have hope she won't be bald until she is 2 like Sara was.

In the NICU they have a camera on Monroe so we could watch her from the hospital room (unfortunately the hospital that I delivered in is on the other side of downtown from the NICU, so the cameras helped us to see what was going on in the first few days). Monroe loves to hang her foot outside of her bed. A lot. She wiggles free when they swaddle her and most of the time gets her foot to hang out. The nurses got this picture too. It's an optical illusion because her foot looks big when it's really, really tiny.

Here's proof it's really tiny in grandpa's hand.

And one of the nurses knows grandpa and knows he is a big Vikings fan so this is one of my blankets now. Maybe by the time I'm big they'll be a winning team.

Here are my open eyes! We're wondering what color they will be. And note she is making it clear she wants these darn tubes OFF her face. This is a common theme of the first couple of days.

Holding grandpa's hand when she is 4 days old.

Jill taking her temperature.

Lots of love looking over her every single day.

Ok. I think that catches us up to day. 5 days old today, best 5 days yet. With even better days ahead.

  1. True story: Luke was asking me a million questions about whether Mayo had the webcam deals for the NICU or not. He very much approves. Glad to hear she's doing so well. I hope you're doing well too, Mama! :)
